MGA Club of the Year

The Marshall Golf Club received the prestigious 2011 Club of The Year Award from the Minnesota Golf Association (MGA).  The MGA Club of The Year Award is given annually to a course who displays excellence in enhancing the game of golf in Minnesota.Marshall Golf Club receives 2011 MGA Club of the Year Award The Marshall Golf Club has hosted numerous amateur championships including the 1999 MGA Women’s Mid-Amateur, the MWGA Senior Four-Ball (2000), and the MGA Junior Team (2008). In addition, the club played host to the MGA-PGA Cup Matches in 1990. Over the years, the club has been the site of several MGA (southwest) regional meetings, has supported a thriving junior program and currently is home to approximately 300 MGA Associate Members. “This is an exceptional award for not only the Marshall Golf Club, but the Marshall Area golf community as a whole,” stated Eric Eben, MGC Board President. “Our Club is supported by so many great Members, and the community – including golfers from all around greater Minnesota. We are delighted to accept this award on behalf of all those who have enjoyed and supported golf at Marshall.” The Marshall Golf Club strives to support area events and youth golf with special focus the Marshall High School and surrounding high school golf teams and participants. In 2011 the MGC held the MGA Junior Qualifier, MGC Junior Area-Wide Championship and the Junior Minnesota PGA Championship. The Club also features an annual Father/Son and Father/Daughter tournament – pairing youngster and their dad’s in an every other shot tournament format. The course also regularly hosts the Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team as well as the Dakota Tour Pro Am. In 2012, the Marshall Golf Course is embarking upon its 70th golf season; the course was first opened in 1942 and was expanded to 18 holes in 1971. The Marshall Golf Club is nestled along the scenic Redwood River and sports exceptional grounds for play – in particular, remarkable greens and challenging fairways. The course is currently open for the 2012 golf season and is actively welcoming new members.
